JOGENRO Serves Traditional Shanghai Cuisine with an Exotic Atmosphere of “Old Shanghai” in 1920s

August 10: I went to Yokohama’s Chinatown for lunch with my family. As always, the main street was bustling with people. We ate at JOGENRO, a popular Shanghai-style restaurant. The five of us were shown to a round table, where we each ordered an à la carte dish and shared everything. Everything was delicious!

Chinatown holds many memories for me. I attended high school in Yokohama and often came here on weekends. At the time, people used to say that small, shabby restaurants served better food than elegant ones. One of those small restaurants was Heichinro. It later grew into a large and famous establishment but eventually went bankrupt. I loved Heichinro, and I still miss it.
